Mini List from May 30, 2011

Welcome to the new home of the St. Louis Homeschool Events List! Please feel free to share this website with other homeschoolers! To have future posts sent to your inbox, it just takes an email address (NO password necessary). You will find the sign up box in the right column at the website. Below you will find still relevant repeat listings from the 5/30/11 mini post (so they will all be searchable at the new site). I will be adding more over the next several days, so there will be a few extra posts for a bit.  After the initial repeats (to allow for searching), only new additions will be posted and I will still continue to post no more than twice a week. Yea! No more 60 page emails, you don’t have time to read and a functioning search engine! Remember to visit the “Ongoing Offerings” (at the website). These are permanent links (with more additions coming) for easy access to the most recent calendar events to homeschoolers favorite places.  As usual, if you know of an event, class, happening, or link you would like to see added, please contact me at zana 87 96 [at] yahoo [dot] com  Comments are not available, but sharing is.

The list of homeschool classes being offer this fall as part of our Homeschool Enrichment program are available online at in the courses section.  Please pass on the word about our homeschool program.  We are really struggling with it and hope to see more people coming! We are also working on a dinner theatre event for homeschoolers. Our fall play will be “Coney Island of Dr. Moreau which is a musical spoof of H.G. Wells famous book. More details will be coming….

If you have any questions about any of these classes please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Have a great day!

RockShow Academy Performing Arts Programs

Hello Homeschoolers!

As some of you may know, my wife – Kelley Brandt – and I have been putting together Broadway-style productions, coaching Praise Bands and Rock bands, teaching fitness classes & teaching Homeschool Enrichment classes for many years.  This coming year we will be offering Homeschool Enrichment classes at our new school, RockShow Academy.  Our family has been homeschooling for over ten years, we are members of A.R.C.H.E. & we view Homeschooling as both a cherished Right as an American citizen and a blessing to us as Christians.  Classes at RockShow Academy are taught by professional musicians and directors who are very encouraging and love to share their real life experience with students.

The enrichment classes at RockShow Academy include Musical Theatre for Princes & Princesses (ages 4-7), Musical Theatre Jr. (ages 7-11), Musical Theatre Sr. (ages 12-18), Music Extravaganza (a General Music class for ages 4-7), Homeschool Choir Jr. (ages 8-12 – includes Recorder), Homeschool Choir Sr. (ages 12-18), Drama (ages 13-18), Improv (ages 12-18) & Praise Band (ages 12-18).  In addition to enrichment classes, RockShow Academy will offer a daily “Boot Camp” fitness class and free childcare for those taking classes whose children are not taking a class.

Also, there will be a weekly Friday Night Coffee House where the students can show off their talents and participation is open to anyone – even if they do not take classes at RockShow Academy – but with lots of supervision!

All the enrichment classes are on Thursday during the day, you can check out our calendar online at

Used Curriculum

“Give me your tired old curriculum, your long neglected books,

Your huddled boxes of home school stuff taking up space in your basement yearning to be useful again,

The things you paid money for, and now is the time to get some of it back.

Send these, the gently used books and resources to me,

I will sell them for you!”  adapted from the poem Colossus.

Now is the time to sell your old curriculum.  We make it easy for you.  May folks are already shopping for the fall school year.  The Family Vision wants to help you!  And, you help us in this important ministry to the home school community.

Check out our online consignment form at or come on in to

Encouragement for The Homeschool Family Conference

Put this event on your calendar today.  You will not want to miss this great conference.

Do you feel like you are running on a treadmill? Do you want to have sweet relationships with your children as they are growing up and not experience the heartache of rebellion and immorality? Do your children have greater purpose in life than just to have fun? Be challenged and find ways that God can set your family on a journey of spiritual unity, purpose, and direction.

The “Encouragement for the Homeschool Family Conference,” with Steve and Teri Maxwell and family, will be held Friday evening, September 16, 7:00-9:30 P.M., and Saturday, September 17, 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M., at The Family Vision Library. There is no cost for the conference; a love offering will be received for the Maxwells’ travel expenses.

If you know of an event or a link you would like added, please contact me at zana 87 96 [at] yahoo [dot] com ; comments are not available, but sharing is.

The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions). Those marked with an asterisk (*) do not take place within the target area for this list, but are open to all homeschoolers who live in the target area. NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the list owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
