Homeschool Events List for 1/3/12

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This year will be bringing some changes to the Events webpage/blog. Retired homeschooler Laura Kostial will no longer be keeping her website, due to changes with MSN, and has graciously agreed to let me move all of her wonderful information about everything homeschool in the St. Louis area to the Homeschool Events List site. This will take me a little time to do (there is a lot of information!) but remember to check the tabs at the top when visiting the website, https://stlouishomeschoolevents.wordpress.com/ to view all the updates. You will still find additional events under Ongoing Offerings, the Homeschool Business Listings and several Educational Helps, as well as the ability to search all past posts and the new additional information. Please feel free to forward this email to other homeschoolers and encourage them to join the email loop; found at the top of the right column.  My contact information is available at the bottom of this post if you have any questions or referrals and please let me know if you find incorrect/out of date information with the coming changes.

Metro Theater Company and the Missouri History Museum present
BATTLEDRUM
The Civil War comes into sharp focus in this exciting musical play set in 1863. Three young boys are at the center of the story:  Jackson, a drummer in the Union army; Rufus, a southern boy orphaned by the war; and George Washington, an African American making his way to freedom on the Underground Railroad.
With lively action, rich music, evocative costumes, and just the right amount of humor, BATTLEDRUM offers young people a compelling point of entry into the complexities of the war that divided our nation. The production climaxes with a stirring drum line performed by the entire cast.

The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions). Those marked with an asterisk (*) do not take place within the target area for this list, but are open to all homeschoolers who live in the target area. NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
