CHARMETTE DANCE CLASSES
From Debbie C…
This is a little late, but dance classes start at Charmette tomorrow!  Hunter has been taking dance there for 3 years now and really enjoys it.  They have 2 homeschool dance classes, one for younger kids and one for older kids.  Enrollment is low so the kids get a lot of one on one attention.  Ms. Angie Klevorn is their teacher and co-owner of Charmette.  She has been a wonderful teacher!  I encourage anyone to check out Charmette if your child is interested in dance.  The studio also offers dance classes during the evening and on week-ends if Tuesday doesn’t work for you.  Give Charmette a call if you have any questions, here is their website:

ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Becca Hubbard will be teaching elementary enrichment classes at the Salvation Army again this year!  She has developed an awesome new class for homeschoolers called “Trains, Plains, and Musical Refrains.”
Students will use the music in the “Little House” series by Laura Ingalls Wilder as a springboard to look at Laura’s pioneering life, but also to explore topics related to the songs such as the Civil War, the westward pioneer movement, the Gold Rush, the building of the railroads, and more!
The class can be offered at multiple times starting on September 11, 12 or 13 (the week after Homeschool P.E. and Homelink begin) and will run for 13 weeks. The cost is only $70 per student. It is geared for ages 6 –12 but can be flexible.
The possible times are designed to correspond with the Homeschool P.E. classes offered in the same building (824 Union Rd., St. Louis MO 63125). You do not have to be a P.E. student to participate. Becca will decide when the class is offered based on interest. It takes six students to form a class.
If interested contact Becca at cbhubbard@htc.net or 618-281-4944 and let her know the age of your student and what day and time would work best for you. She needs feedback to finalize the classes!
Becca Hubbard is a wonderful teacher and her enrichment classes come highly recommended! She is also available for tutoring in a variety of subjects.
For more information on the 26th year of Homeschool P.E. at the Salvation Army Gateway Community Center, contact Coach Cort Hubbard at Cort_Hubbard@usc.salvationarmy.org  or 314-631-0727.

HOMESCHOOL TENNIS (homeschooler recommended)
Steel Shop Tennis Club is a little over 1 year old. They are located at the far end of Main Street in St. Charles (you actually get to it from Second Street). They are offering a daytime session for homeschoolers at a discounted price. We can pick the day of the week that suits us best as a group. If we get enough people, we can have two days a week, which would help to make up missed classes. They also offer free court time once a week to let the kids get some practice in (see below). They will periodically have tennis matches for these kids to test their skills and have a pro there to give them tips. They have BBQs, pizza days, and other fun stuff for the kids. Their evening program has lots of kids in it. The 8 week session would be $96.00 plus a membership. Membership is $55.00 for youth or $95.00 for a family per year. Website listed below.
This is what is included with the sessions: open court time from 1-3 pm on those two days, class from 2-3 pm, membership required, three free hitting alley passes per player, need 6 players to make a class, we can talk about when the eight week session should start.

Murray’s Technical Education
Hello, my name is Michael Murray and I teach AutoCAD drafting online to homeschoolers. I am a state certified teacher and have been teaching for almost 30 years. I am very happy to have my online drafting class ready and available to anyone who wants to learn to use the AutoCAD program.
The field of Drafting and Engineering is growing and CAD is the program most used in the industry. By learning the basic fundamentals taught in my online class, students can become certified in AutoCAD and have an edge when entering college.
Teenage homeschoolers who are looking for a fun and rewarding learning experience will benefit from my classes. I offer two classes: Mechanical and Architectural Drafting. I teach the classes, I am available by phone or e-mail for support and I can promise that the students will enjoy learning AutoCAD Drafting and Design.
Please visit my website for more information. If you feel that this is a good fit for your homeschooling families please pass it along to them.

If you know of an event, class, happening, or link you would like to see added, please contact me at zana8796 [at] yahoo [dot] com  Comments are not available, but sharing is.

The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions). Those marked with an asterisk (*) do not take place within the target area for this list, but are open to all homeschoolers who live in the target area. NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
