We’re excited about our upcoming Homeschool Day on Monday, November 19!
Our theme this month is Numbers and Notes.
MHM Homeschool Days are completely free! Activities are offered from 10 am to 2pm. Pick and choose your day from our list of programs and activities to best suit your family schedule, and you can spend as much or as little time with us as you’d like. We kindly request that interested families register online. This allows us to be prepared with materials and space for everyone. We are very excited for the variety of speakers and community members who are contributing to this month’s programming!
Make sure you are signed up for our enewsletter in order to get the latest updates about programming for homeschool families. Don’t forget that our family-level memberships offer you free tickets every day of the year, and even though activities will run from 10am to 2pm, all other free exhibits in the museum are open the full day.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on Monday, November 19!
Families interested in participating are kindly requested to RSVP.

Penguin Ski Club!
Though the price went up a little this year, it’s still an unbelievable deal and makes a fantastic Christmas gift.
For only $119 each person receives a lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental each time they visit (once a week Mon-Thurs), and an individual pass that they will keep with them. This pass is flexible allowing you to vary your choice of day from week to week (Mon-Thurs). It must be presented at the ticket window with each visit to Hidden Valley so a current lift ticket can be issued to the pass holder.
Joining this club this way is still less expensive than skiing twice without a pass. It’s a fundraiser for the Homeschool Japanese Club. We are planning to go to Japan this summer.
There is also a Friday option. If you would like to ski on Fridays only, you can buy a Friday pass for $149. Friday is a high demand day, but still less busy than weekends. The same person cannot buy both a Mon-Thurs pass and a Friday pass.
Anybody can join, including your friends, neighbors and family who aren’t homeschooling. But the deadline to join is December 1st at midnight. Hidden Valley makes no exceptions to the deadline.
To join the Penguin Ski Club, visit Click “Plan and Buy” along the top. Click School programs, then under HV Ski and Ride Club click Learn More, then click the box to buy now. Our user name for the club is “Penguins” with a capital P. Our password is “homeski” with a lower case h. You are now in our club site.
Next you will click the blue “go shopping.” At the top left there is a box of categories where you click 12/13 ski passes. Select the pass you would like. Most people want the Mon-Thurs option for $99. You can also select the Friday only option for$149 if you want and add it to the cart and check out. (There is tax on tickets, which is about $7.50.)
During check out you will assign a guest for the pass. If you were a member last year, type in the name of each person one at a time and see if it is still in the system. If not, you may need to create a new guest. New members do this by typing in the name, address and birthday, etc.
Once you find the guest, or create a new one, you select the guest and enter the birthday of that guest. Check out is like most other things on line. You enter your billing name and address and make payment via Visa, Master Card or Discover.
To learn more about Hidden Valley, you may visit the website at
If you still have questions, please email me at or call 636-273-9565. If needed, I will contact Hidden Valley for you. The season is crazy busy, and they want us to have one contact person for all our questions.

Home School Day at the Dome
The St. Louis Rams will be hosting homeschoolers on December 16th, 2012 as we take on the Minnesota Vikings!
The group outing will include a discounted ticket for all homeschoolers. The discount per ticket is $15 off face value. The two most popular locations at the discount include: $40/ticket located on the 400 level; $80/ticket located on the 100 field level. All concession stand items will be discounted on December 16th and Sam Bradford bobble heads will be given to the first 10,000 kids that enter the stadium, 14 and under.
There is no minimum purchase of tickets for individuals. How ever many tickets you would like, whether it be 1 ticket or 50 tickets, they will all qualify for the discount and offer. Though a benefit of getting families together and purchasing the tickets in bulk, is making sure the tickets are all together, seats right next to each other.
Please contact me back at your earliest convenience if you would like to participate and/or would like to discuss in further detail for more information.

The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions). Those marked with an asterisk (*) do not take place within the target area for this list, but are open to all homeschoolers who live in the target area. NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
