HOMESCHOOL BOWLING CLUB
FREE Bowling Club Sign-up Event!! 9/4/13 OPEN TO ALL HOMESCHOOLERS, so please spread the word!!!
Bowling club meets Wednesdays at 1:00pm and last about 1½ hours. Our schedule is listed below, the cost is $5.00 per student per week.  Included each week is 3 games, shoe rental and a couch is on hand so that we get that educational item taken care of as well.  The kids will create teams that they will bowl with for each session.  So that they can improve their game, hang out with friends, and parents can sit back and socialize with each other as well (that’s worth the $5 to me right there). We have SEVERAL special parties, including a Halloween party where kids can wear costumes if they like even.
To attend the FREE event to see if this would be a good match for you all you have to do is call the lanes directly and reserve your spot so that they know how many to expect that day. Lakeside Lanes 636-225-2400.
Brunswick Zone Lakeside, 1254 Dougherty Ferry Road, Valley Park, MO 63088
636-225-2400
http://www.bowlbrunswick.com/about-us/254/
Our schedule is below – feel free to join us for the Fall, the Winter or hopefully BOTH Sessions:
Fall Session: 9/11/13 – 12/18/13 (we will NOT bowl the week of Thanksgiving 11/20/13)
Winter Session: 1/8/14 – 4/30/14
JUST as any FYI there are junior leagues that meet in addition to this and for the Lakeside Lanes location that is on Friday and Saturdays should your student really develop an interest that they want to pursue.  These leagues have the opportunity to win scholarships so I wanted to not forget to mention that in case anyone has interest.

SEEKING CHARLOTTE MASON HOMESCHOOLERS
Interested in a Charlotte Mason style of homeschooling? I’d love to hear from you!
I am looking for others with a passion for, or even just an interest in, a “Charlotte Mason” approach to homeschooling. I’ve met quite a lot of homeschoolers around STL with various styles of homeschooling, but “CM” homeschoolers seem to be few and far between. I am considering organizing a 1- or 2-day seminar all related to a Charlotte Mason philosophy of homeschooling, to be held either in the STL area or possibly the Chicago area, and would like to get a feel for how much interest there is in such an event.
Also, I would also be interested in just connecting with other CM families, regardless of any seminar. I live in the Wentzville area, so finding someone out this way would be fabulous, but would love to hear from anyone! You can contact me (Stacey) at szoller@gmail.com — thank you!
Here are just a few CM sites, if you’re not familiar with it:

Go Ape Grand Opening in Creve Coeur Park
Go Ape and St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation held a grand opening of the first treetop adventure course in Missouri on July 26 at Creve Coeur Park.  Under this public private partnership, Go Ape and St. Louis County Parks will offer residents and tourists of the St. Louis Metropolitan area a unique outdoor experience that allows participants to live life adventurously and experience Creve Coeur Park from a new vantage point, from 40 feet up in the trees.
Go Ape is a highly interactive adventure where participants are equipped with harnesses, pulleys and carabineers and receive a 30-minute training session before they are turned loose into the forest canopy.  The course at Creve Coeur Park will provide visitors with 2-3 hours of outdoor fun and exercise.  The course features five ziplines, including the first skateboard zipline in the Midwest, two Tarzan swings and over 40 other challenging and fun obstacles. The course is designed for all athletic levels and encourages participants to push themselves and turn “I can’t” into “I can.”
“St. Louis County Parks is very excited that Go Ape is bringing its Treetop Adventure Course to Creve Coeur Park,” said St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Acting Director Tom Ott.  “Go Ape is a great addition to St. Louis County Parks, which offers a variety of recreational programs and activities for its residents.  This will be another recreational opportunity for residents and visitors who want to enjoy the outdoors.”
For more details visit www.goape.com. To see video of the Go Ape experience, visit Go Ape’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/goapeusa.
BOOK RESERVATIONS:  To book treetime, go to www.goape.com or call 1-800-971-8271.  The cost is $35 (10-17 yrs old) and $55 (adults) To join the tribe, become a fan of “Go Ape USA” on Facebook or follow @GoApeUSA on Twitter.

If you know of an event, class, happening, or link you would like to see added, please contact me at zana8796 [at] yahoo [dot] com  Comments are not available, but sharing is.
The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions). Those marked with an asterisk (*) do not take place within the target area for this list, but are open to all homeschoolers who live in the target area.
NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
