Visitation for Patty Yager
Patty touched countless lives in the homeschool community. She has been a member of almost every support group, and taught math and personal finance classes at Pillar, Homelink, and a variety of other places. She was instrumental in homeschool sports, spearheading and coaching the Patriettes volleyball clinics and teams.
There will be a visitation for all friends and family of Patty this Wednesday, August 6th, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Schrader Funeral Home, 14960 Manchester Road (at Holloway), in Ballwin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Andrews Foundation, 15820 Clayton Road, Ellisville, MO. 63011. The Andrews Foundation is one of the charities Patty worked with to aid families with their foreign adoptions. Later in the week there will be a small private funeral for family members. Friends may also sign the Yager family’s on-line guestbook sponsored by the Schrader Funeral Home at www.schrader.com.
The most important thing we can do is keep the Yager family in our prayers. Steve told us that “he and the kids are in shock – that they just never expected a life without Patty.” The Yagers are strong Christians and know they will see Patty again, but the loss here on earth is unimaginable.

Free New Home Educators Seminar and High School Helps Seminar
Saturday, August 23rd, SHARE will be hosting back-to-back homeschool seminars. The free seminars will be held at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 7717 Big Bend Blvd., Webster Groves MO 63119.
See all the details below about our New Home Educators Seminar (for pre-school – 7th grade) from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, and our High School Helps Seminar (for 7th – 12th grade) from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Parents of jr. high students are welcome to attend both seminars, but those jr. high families that have been homeschooling for a few years will probably find the morning session unnecessary. The afternoon session would be a good fit for both newbies and veterans with jr. high students. Remember – it is wise to start planning for the high school years BEFORE they arrive!
Both seminars are free but registration is required. We need to know how many are attending so that we can prepare enough handouts and decide what rooms to use. To register, go to www.sharehomeschool.com. Click on the “Sign-up” link under the Upcoming Events box (right side) and an online registration form will appear. Register all who will be coming and be sure to indicate which session(s) you are attending. Please write any questions you have in the appropriate box. It is very helpful to get your questions ahead of time!
Sorry – there is no childcare for this event but nursing babies are allowed, of course. You are welcome to bring a sack lunch or snacks to eat in the basement Fellowship Hall, or stop by one of the area restaurants (There are quite a few in the neighborhood). We will provide soda and juice and there is a water cooler with cups.
Got questions?

History-Loving Volunteers Needed!
Not many history buffs have a chance to walk in the same footstep as Ulysses S. Grant or Robert E. Lee or Jefferson Davis as well as those of the tens of thousands of troopers inducted into military service during WWII.
St. Louis County Parks invites those interested in local and national history to volunteer as Museum Attendants to welcome visitors and answer basic questions about the site at the two powder magazine museums at Jefferson Barracks County Park in South St. Louis County.
Low-key, two person shifts are available Wednesday – Sunday from Noon – 4 p.m. at the Old Ordnance Room, 346 Bagby Street, St. Louis, MO 63125 and the Powder Magazine Museum, 400 Bagby Street, St. Louis, MO 63125. Easiest access to Jefferson Barracks County Park is from the newly-refurbished North Gate Entrance, located just south of where Kingston Drive meets South Broadway.
Current volunteers enjoy the company of colleagues including veterans, retirees, history buffs and those with a desire to preserve the past for future generations while volunteering at the Powder Magazine Museum and Old Ordnance Room as well as attending various optional volunteer trainings and appreciation events during the year.
An information session followed by tours of both Powder Magazine museums for new Museum Attendant volunteers will be held Saturday, August 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jefferson Barracks Visitor Center, 345 North Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125; advance registration is required. To register for the information session, email sbell@stlouisco.com or call (314) 615-8822. Registrants are also welcome to attend the JB volunteer training session for current volunteers at 9 a.m. in the JB Visitor Center just before the new volunteer information session; coffee and donuts will be provided for all attendees beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Biblical and Conversational Hebrew
Hello. This is Mama Shoshanna( Susanna) and I am offering Biblical and conversational Hebrew for Beginners. A few years back, I had stumbled upon a Jewish Library and since I am part Jewish, I figured I would learn Hebrew. I also reaaly had a desire to go to Israel, so I studied hard. I learned the basics then went on from there. It was very interesting.
Now, I am attempting to create a class just for home schoolers, children and adults. Of course, I will separate children into one group and teens/adults into another section.
Cost: $20 per student, per class( Multiple family member discounts)
Ages: 5-12 Group A     (Saturday, August 30th, from 1pm-3pm)
13-Adult Group B (Saturday, September 6th from 1pm-3pm)
Class Location: 42 Cathcart Drive, Apt D, Ellisville, MO 63021
Instructor Name: Miss Susanna Kelley aka Mama Shoshanna
Instructor’s Number: (636)284-0383
Please R.S.V.P. a.s.a.p. if you or your children plan on attending my Hebrew course. Thank you and have a blessed day.

New co-op starting
My name is Liesl and I’m coordinating a coop that meets by Forest Park.
Memorial Homeschooling Coop meets Wednesdays from 9:30-12:00. Our students will study Astronomy (1st semester) and Chemistry (2nd semester) for the science hour and Drawing/ Artist In-Depth Study for the Art hour. We welcome all siblings; however, classes are for K-3rd. There is also a K-4 science mini-class, a preschool class for 2-4 and nursery. We also attend fieldtrips that connect to the content being studied. Our vision is to create a joyful, rigorous, hands-on learning environment for our children that glorifies God.   Please contact Liesl McDowell at mcdowellsmail@yahoo.com, if you are interested.

Please email me at crystal@paulschmidt.org if you have been seeking this kind of cooperative arrangement and we can discuss how we can work together this year.

And don’t forget to check out the top tabs too! Please feel free to forward this email to other homeschoolers and encourage them to join the email loop; sign up is at the top of the right column. LIKE THE LIST ON FACEBOOK!
If you know of an event, class, happening, or link you would like to see added, please contact me at zana8796 [at] yahoo [dot] com  and please let me know if you have any questions or find incorrect/out of date information. Comments are not available, but sharing is.
The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions).
NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
