MDC opens new and improved archery range on August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area
Archers now have a larger, full featured Archery Range Complex for their use in the St. Charles area.
St. CHARLES, Mo.—The renovation of the archery range on the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles is nearing completion. The new Archery Range Complex will open for public use on Thursday, June 4 following a dedication ceremony and public open house.
The grand opening ceremony and dedication comments will begin at 4 p.m. Immediately after the ceremony, the range will be available from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for an open house which will allow the public to tour the facility before it is open for shooting. At 5:30 p.m., the new archery range will officially open for public use. The first full day of operation will be Friday, June 5.
The renovation project began last fall and entailed an extensive overhaul of the facility. The new Archery Range Complex occupies the same location as before but now offers the following improvements:
A static range with 20 targets, including:
-14 targets arranged from 10 – 40 yards in five yard increments.
-One elevated platform approximately 10 feet in height with ADA access that includes six targets, one every five yards between 15 and 40 yards.
The static range will also incorporate two Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking spots and ADA-compliant concrete sidewalks and accesses.
There are also two walk-through field archery ranges which include:
-A mile-long loop trail and a half-mile out-and-back trail, also with 14 target stations each.
-Target distances from 10 – 60 yards will be provided on both walk through ranges. Each target lane includes a short marked distance and a longer marked distance to accommodate different levels of skill.
The normal operating hours of the Archery Range Complex will be Tuesday – Sunday, 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset, unless otherwise posted. The range will be closed on Mondays for maintenance. The range is unstaffed and use will be free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
For more information on the new Busch Area Archery Range Complex, call 636-441-4554.

The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions).
NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
