Homeschool Day at Barron’s Gym

The Homelink Learning Center schedule is complete and we are finally able to use the new online registration system! Thanks for your patience & understanding with the many delays as we dealt with unexpected “start-up” issues. The new system may be confusing and time-consuming at first, but in the long run it will make things easier and more efficient for teachers, students and parents.
Note from Kerrie: My son’s college admissions rep said our course descriptions and schedule look more complicated than theirs! She said they have a team of 50 paid staff working on the classes year round and asked how big our “staff” was. I told her we don’t need a staff of 50 people when we have the amazing Cathy Mullins volunteering her time… with a new kidney!
We are so excited about the 2015-2016 teachers and classes and hope Homelink can meet some of your homeschooling needs and offer support as we face another school year together!
For ALL the details you need to know, go to the SHARE website Home Page at and click on ‘Homelink Classes” on the black navigation bar at the top. You will see seven 2015-2016 pop-out webpages entitled:
HOMELINK CURRICULUM REFERENCE GUIDE Thanks for compiling this, Judy Musick!
Note: We included a pop-out about the Homeschool P.E. Program because the Salvation Army is only 5-7 minutes away from the Homelink location and many Homelink families take classes at both places. We try to avoid conflicts with P.E. class times but it is getting harder each year! P.E. tends to fill up quickly on Tuesday and Thursdays so contact Coach Cort Hubbard ASAP if you are interested in classes on those days. See the webpage for info..
The HOW TO REGISTER page explains the new registration process in detail. Feel free to call us with any questions as you check the Matrix/Schedule Grid, read the Course Descriptions, fill out the online Registration From, and pay your Class Deposit Fee to hold a spot. Also let us know if you find any mistakes. Cathy Mullins is truly the “Website Wonderwoman” and can solve any problem you encounter!
You can imagine how difficult it was to make all of the classes fit together for all the students and teachers! We had to consider conflicts with P.E, carpools, Pillar, Speech & Debate, college dual enrollment, Patriots practice & games, dance classes, gymnastics, music lessons, jobs, volunteering, therapies, youth groups, scouts, musical theater, St. Andrew staff…and MORE! We welcome your input if you have a conflict in ANY of your classes! There is no guarantee that we can change the schedule…but we will try to make adjustments if enough students have a problem.  Email Kerrie Tate at with class feedback and/or questions. Please include conflict/class details and your phone number.
We will be adding other webpages in the next few weeks, including 2015-2016 FUN SCHOOL CLASSES, ORIENTATION INFO, COURSE GUIDE BY SUBJECT, PAYMENT PLAN FORM, and others!
Mark your Calendars for the Homelink Orientation on Tuesday, August 25th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. More details to come!

Swim Team
The Gateway City Avengers is a small, year-round USA Swimming competitive swim team located in south St. Louis City. This smaller swim club approach provides for individual coaching attention as well as plenty of training space which allows all swimmers to excel to their highest levels. The Gateway City Aquatic Club is a not-for-profit organization: a Christian sports ministry of Hole in the Roof Ministry Center. It is coached by long time homeschooling family, Jamie and Paul Hamilton. The Avengers are supported by a team of highly motivated and dedicated parent volunteers as well as a group of private and corporate sponsors. When a swimmer becomes a member of the team, they learn the meaning of courage, goal-setting, dedication, determination, responsibility, sportsmanship and teamwork. Our swimmers learn that you achieve what you work for, not what you wish for. Some Avenger swimmers may swim fast enough to become Olympic champions, but ALL Avenger swimmers will develop a life-long commitment to excellence, to discipline, to sacrifice, and high character living.
Registration for the 2015-2016 season is now open. Swim team practice begins on Tuesday, September 1st at the Cherokee Recreational Center, 3200 South Jefferson, St. Louis, MO 63118. . Participation in one USA Swimming swim meet per month is required. There are squad for children 4 to 18 years of age and all abilities.   To schedule your child’s squad placement evaluation, please contact us at 314-884-0824.

If you know of an event, class, happening, or link you would like to see added, please contact me at zana8796 [at] yahoo [dot] com  and please let me know if you have any questions or find incorrect/out of date information. Comments are not available, but sharing is.
The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions).
NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you.
