Ambleside Christian Academy
Registration for Fall 2017 is now open for Ambleside Christian Academy! We started out last year as a forest school, with Jeff Bader teaching nature/drawing, and Cort Hubbard teaching PE. This year we have expanded to include other programs as well! Students can be enrolled in 1-4 days per week, allowing parents to customize an educational plan for their children. In addition to the forest school, we now offer Field Trip Days, which include two days per month where students are immersed in the creativity of a master – learning from museums, buildings with amazing architecture, artists, small businesses, charities, and more! The other two days a month students study architecture and entrepreneurship, and spend most of their day in studio time, working alone or in small groups to design and implement a project inspired by the master works. We have also added our Checkpoint workshops, where we focus on communication and relational skills, as well as math, writing, grammar, Latin, and memory work. We have lots of details on our website if you want to learn more!
If you are interested in the Charlotte Mason approach to teaching, you might want to look into this program…it is highly recommended!

Twin City Homeschool Group Annual Curriculum Sale
Wednesday, May 31 at 9 AM – 11:30 AM
Faith Baptist Church
11835 County Rd CC, Festus, Missouri 63028
Annual used curriculum sale! Tables are $3 each, and the money goes as a donation/thank you to the church. Sellers need to be there to set up at 8, get ready and shop each other from 8-9, then open to the public at 9. At 11:30 we wrap it up, haul it out and clean up. Everyone will have an assigned clean up job so no one gets stuck all day.
Everyone pays their $3 that day, I will collect it that morning while we set up. If you tell me you are coming please show up. If something happens last minute, please let me know. I make sure tables are set up for everyone. Last year we let kids sell baked goods and crafts, too. That seemed to go over well, so we can do that again. Otherwise, ONLY homeschool materials – books, videos, education games, project kits, etc. All good! No vendors, other types of products, etc.
We will not have a free table. Last year I filled the back of my Suburban with the stuff left, and it was mainly loose papers and things that donation places did not want. This year, please feel free to have a free box at your table, but you have to take it with you when you leave.
Last year we had enough room to partition off part of the gym and let some of the sellers’ kids hang out there and shoot baskets. Depending on turnout/available space, I will try to do that again.

Driver’s Training
Hello. My name is Tom Heisserer. I am a homeschooling father of eight children. I am starting a driver’s training service in the St. Louis area. My background includes being a former Missouri State Highway Patrolman and a current accident reconstructionist and insurance claim investigator with a large insurance company. I have a current unrestricted Missouri driver’s license and am fully insured. I have taken the Protecting God’s Children class and have my background checked every two years through the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Training will include: reviewing the Missouri Driver’s License guide; taking practice written tests; learning how to change a tire; and one on one driver training in all types of traffic situations. In addition, I will provide instruction on what to do if you’re in an accident as well as what to do if you are pulled over by the police. I will keep a log of hours for the Missouri driver’s license test.
Whether you have a permit and no driving experience; or you have some experience and need to brush up on your skills before taking the driving test; or you need help studying for the written test before your permit; or even a newly licensed driver that could use a bit more practice I can tailor the training to you.
Students needing driving instruction must provide a currently licensed vehicle to practice in, a driver’s permit and proof of insurance.
For more information on availability, rates, or any other questions you may have please call me at 314-837-4337 or by email
Thank you

Comments are not available, but sharing is.
The posted events are open to all homeschoolers in the St. Louis, MO, area (including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Franklin County, and Jefferson County in MO, and Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County in IL, and surrounding regions).
NOTE: Inclusion in this list does not necessarily indicate endorsement by the blog owner. I try to include as many events or classes I know of in the Greater St. Louis area that would be of special interest to homeschoolers. Some of these events come from a distinctively “Christian” perspective, while others are purely “secular” in nature. If you see things that you would not be particularly interested in, just ignore them and look for the things that do appeal to you
