ONGOING

North County Secular Homeschoolers Park Days

It’s Park Day season!! We meet on Wednesdays from 12ish until 3-4ish at the following parks:

Join us on Facebook, and come out and play at the park!!

God’s Green Acre Ranch Association

God’s Green Acre Ranch Association is great for anyone with a girl aged 13-18 who is interested in horses. My daughter had been taking lessons for several years and participating in shows but we were not in a position to own a horse. We were able to join the ranch in September and my daughter loves it!

The girls go to the ranch on Saturdays from 9:30-3:30, where they are responsible for both household and barn chores, caring for their horse, riding their horse in the outdoor arenas or trail riding on the 165 acre ranch. There is also a girls’ board which has meetings every Saturday morning.

The girls hold board positions and facilitate these meetings with adult supervision. They sponsor and participate in horse shows in the summer and participate in parades throughout the year. Families are welcome to come on Saturdays as well and can explore the property or go fishing. Families are also able to utilize the property throughout the week, Saturday evenings, and Sundays. Some families have birthday parties, camp outs, etc. If you or someone you know is interested and would like more information, please contact Nancy Sarocco at 314-941-3410.

Homeschool Quiz Bowl

Now recruiting elementary, middle school, and high school quiz bowl teams for the 2018-19 school year. Quiz bowl is an exciting academic competition where teams of students use buzzers to score points for their team by answering a wide range of questions. Topics include history, literature, math, religion, science, geography and fine arts.

We will be training and practicing together approximately twice a month and competing in several Saturday competitions throughout the year. Practices will most likely be either st Charles or west/mid county. There may also be an opportunity to travel (possibly Atlanta, DC, or Chicago) if we qualify for nationals. Please contact Jen Farra (jenfarra@gmail.com) for more information.

National Bible Bee Summer Study

Can you spare just 20 mins a day to study God’s Word? Then you have time for the summer study this year. Our family is a “HOST” Family this year and will be putting together just 3 “meetings” to help encourage you, equip you and share in your summer study. Once you sign up, you’ll recieve a “Discovery Journal” which walks you through what to do each day – memory verses, cross references, Greek words and more. You’ll be surprised at the richness of this and you may find your children start telling YOU things you didn’t know about the scriptures. (Ask me how I know!)

There really is no way better to spend your summer than diving into God’s word. This I can promise. And at just 20 mins. a day, everyone can do it. But you may find that the soon the desire becomes to spend more than 20 mins a day…

Learn more about how to register and sign up at www.biblebee.org

You can join our host group and get ready for a great 8-week study. And if your child loves that – he/she can sign up to try for the National’s which are held in San Antonio each year in late Fall. Makes a great family vacation even if your child doesn’t “qualify” for the Nationals – it’s the only family vacation we’ll take this year. And it was our children’s choice. Something amazing happens when you attend and hear the scriptures recited by kids from around the country, aged 7 – 18… you go home invigorated and ready to do God’s work in your home!

If you are interested, we would LOVE to have you. Just check the website above for more information, sign up online, and feel free to contact us with any questions at: keithgeorgefamily@gmail.com

Blessings,

Sheri George
